This patch was designed on Adobe Illustrator for a friendly competition at Sendero Provisions Co. The patch was intended to be printed on felt and placed on a five panel hat.

I incorporated their main slogan, and picked a muted color palette in order cater toward college age kids, a market they were hoping to break into.

Ink and Ivy was the group name myself and my partners came up with for a project done in a Professional Writing course. With this logo, we designed and presented updated Baylor English Department materials that would market the major to students.

An Analysis of the Women’s March on Washington

Written for an upper level lecture course, in this essay I analyze the Women’s March on Washington that took place the day after President Trump’s inauguration.

THESIS: THE RHETORIC OF THE WOMEN’S MARCH ON WASHINGTON LARGELY IMPACTED THE MESSAGE OF FEMALE EMPOWERMENT THE GROUP WANTED TO CONVEY AND BROUGHT MORE AUTHORITY TO THEIR ORGANIZATION. THROUGH USING UNIFYING ELEMENTS SUCH AS PUSSY HATS, USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO SPREAD THEIR MESSAGE, AND CHOOSING A SPECIFIC DAY TO MARCH, THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON ON 2017 WAS A VERY POWERFUL FORCE TO RECKON WITH.

Religion in a Pagan World: Messianic Characters and Tolkien’s Christianity

Written for an upper level literature course, in this essay I expand on three characters in Tolkien’s trilogy, The Lord of the Rings that exhibit messianic characteristics. Honoring Tolkien’s hatred of allegory, I analyze Gandalf, Aragorn, and Frodo using evidence from the text and other primary or secondary sources.

THESIS: THERE ARE THREE CHARACTERS IN THE LORD OF THE RINGS THAT HAVE CHRISTIAN UNDERTONES IN THEIR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. THROUGH CLOSE READINGS OF GANDALF, ARAGORN AND FRODO THERE CAN BE DISCERNED CHRISTIAN THEMES AND MESSIANIC CHARACTERISTICS. GANDALF HAS TENDENCIES RESEMBLING THAT OF A PROPHET; ARAGORN CAN BE COMPARED TO JESUS IN TERMS OF KINGLY CHARACTERISTICS; FRODO IS LIKENED TO A PRIEST. EACH OF THEM SHOW, AT DIFFERENT TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SAGE, THE SUBTEXT OF TOLKIEN’S CHRISTIANITY DESPITE BEING SET IN A WORLD CREATED BY HIS LOVE OF ANGLO-SAXON CULTURE.
